Congratu;lations to the 4 teams that participated....a great result was achieved by all teams
Coulter Sheild Results 13th May
The boys behaved and represented the Gold Coast on and off the field most admirably. They displayed genuine camaraderie, excellent sportsmanship and a willingness to listen and learn. They are to be congratulated for this.
Performance wise we couldn't really have asked for more. The boys really stepped up and proved they are all capable of very high level hockey. They went down to Ipswich 2-0 early on (a game in which they dominated for 50 of the 60 mins), and beat Border 3-1, and then Sunshine Coast 7-1.
This talented group are genuine State Title contenders!
Many thanks to Timmy Forster for his help and insight as assistant coach for the day.
Well done boys.
Putty and Jill.

U15s State Titles Results
U15 Girls Results:
Day 2:
Day two down and another 6 points under the belt.
First game against Bundaberg lacked structure at times but the team pulled together to get the job done. End result was 4-0.
Second game against Sunshine Coast started to display some of the classy hockey the team is capable of. A solid defensive set up boosted the confidence of the whole team and they came away with a 3-0 win.
Gold Coast are currently sitting equal at the top with Toowoomba. 12 points, 11 goals for, 0 against.
Back to the grass tomorrow and up against Maryborough and Rockhampton
Day 1:
Today we had two games on grass and came away with two wins. First game was against Mackay. After dominating at least 70% of the possession and constantly building solid attacks we scored the winning and only goal with from a penalty corner with 10 seconds to go.
Our second game was against Brisbane 3. The nature of the game was never going to be flash due to the fatigue in the hot temperatures and a slight underestimation of the oppositions ability. 3-0 was enough to get the job done and move on to day 2 with the maximum 6 points under the belt.
Two games tomorrow, Bundaberg and Sunshine Coast.

Gold Coast U18M Teams 2011
We wish to congratulate the following players on their recent selection to represent the Gold Coast at the 2011 HQLD State Championship, to be held in Toowoomba on the 22nd til 25th of September 2011.
Selectors had tough decisions to make due to the fantastic effort and turnout of 30+ players to the trials over the past 6 weeks. This is a huge effort by everyone as we embark on hopefully another successful tournament to wrap up 2011 Representative season.
Due to the large numbers there will be two team entered to the championships.
With 4 weeks preparation to go the focus will now be on team development and structures with some trial games as the final prep. Coaches and selectors must commend everyone on the effort over the preparation to date. Great to see.

Gold Coast Women Finish 5th
Gold Coast women finished fifth today in the twelve team open state title competition. The girls only lost one game over the whole weekend but struggled to score goals in crucial moments. With a very young side there are good signs ahead for the girls. The focus now shifts to the newly formed "superleague" which will see our best Gold Coasters combine with the best from the tweed in the highest form of competition in the state in June in Brisbane.
Gold Coast Men Finish 5th
Gold Coast took on Rockhampton again in the 5th vs 6th final winning a tight battle 3-2.
The game remained goalless for the majority of the first half until Rockhampton scored with 6 minutes remaining until the half-time break. Ten minutes into the second half Rockhampton scored again taking them to a 2-0 lead with just 20minutes on the clock.
Gold Coast then opened the scoring through a PC which Corey Piggin deflected in off a Joey Reardon hit. Gold Coast continued the scoring with Reece Buckingham managing a tap in from an unsuccessful clearance from the Rockhampton keeper. Buckingham then took the Gold Coast to the lead with minutes on the clock following an impressive pass from Mark Harris. Gold Coast were then awarded a PC in the final seconds of the game but were unable to extend their lead.
Despite only loosing one game for the whole tournament Gold Coast finished 5th, with the top goal scorer for Gold Coast being Craig Bigham from Labrador on 5 goals, followed by Reece Buckingham from Mudgeeraba on 4.
